Ms. Christy Apodaca is a 4th generation Disciple, born and raised in Colorado Springs. She has bachelors degrees in both Athletic Training and Exercise Physiology. She was a civil servant with the U.S. Air Force as an exercise physiologist for 10 years. Christy also worked in many different settings as a Certified Athletic Trainer, including high school, college, and various National Governing Bodies for Olympic Sports. She also worked, both volunteer and paid, for her home congregation, First Christian Church in Colorado Springs, for over thirteen years. Christy is married to Robert and together they have three amazing children. Christy loves to play the piano & alto sax, and relishes a great work out every chance she gets!
Ms. Rebecca Ashton is a 3rd generation Disciple, born and raised in DeLand, Florida. She splits her time living at home with her parents, Paul and Dorothy Ashton, and her sister Robin, and living and working at the Retreat. She attended New College of Florida for one year, but intends to pursue a Business degree at Daytona State College. Rebecca has attended summer camps at the Retreat since third grade, and has been a counselor multiple times. She is currently worshipping at FCC Ocala, serving as a choir member and Children's Ministry Assistant. Rebecca also meets with the Young Adult Fellowship (YAF) once a month and helps plan service projects. Rebecca's passion for music and singing has brought her to the stage of Carnegie Hall in her junior year of high school. She is a photographer in her free time and is building up a portfolio. She also loves painting, kayaking, and playing video games.
